THE STATIC DYNAMIC is Jess Collins, Steph Curran, Mark Avery and Kyle Burkert. Originally formed in 2007 by Jess (Petty Morals/Mellow Bravo), and Steph (Marianas/Goddess of My Religion), they released a record, performed regionally and then took a hiatus. Fast forward to 2013, a new incarnation of The Static Dynamic was born and work on new material began.
The band's first single “Relentless” made its debut in the fall of 2014 across several local radio stations and started creating a buzz in the local scene. Their follow up single, “Spotlight”, was released in the spring of 2015 and has been consistently receiving positive reviews across several music publications including the Boston Herald.
“The Static Dynamic are a band alive with a jolting rock vibe. If you need a hit of emotive vocals, deep driving rhythms, and super-catchy riffs then their single 'Spotlight' needs to find a home in your earphones. Better yet, let it reverberate through the house a few times and seep through your system.” - Weekend Notes
Last year the band was invited to perform in the historic Boston Rock n’ Roll Rumble. It was a turning point for the band because they had just lost a guitarist and had to pull of performing in the most competitive battle of the bands in the North East. THE STATIC DYNAMIC made it to the finals and came in 3rd place out of 24 bands. Their 3rd spot win garnered them press, more shows and airplay across Boston.
“Jess Collins’ voice. Are you listening to this? Well, listen up. A tasty cocktail of the right songs and dead-right musicians in The Static Dynamic, frame that voice. A band with melody, a Rumble act who sharpened their set to a ball of fury: singalongs, clapalongs, people realizing it’s Friday and they came to party, a guitarist tossing her axe into the drum kit. Please see the paper next week for my 5,000-word, page-one feature about why the band’s version of “Gold Dust Woman” is the Rumble’s greatest cover.” - Boston Herald
THE STATIC DYNAMIC is just released their first EP titled “Late Season” which was recorded by Sean McLaughlin, produced by Sean McLaughlin and Steph Curran and mixed by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East. This EP is a darker, more emotional collection of songs from the band.
“The EP explores a darker side of the The Static Dynamic with more emotionally charged lyrics, skillfully intertwined guitar and piano passages and hard rocking choruses. The EP’s closing track “Blue Sky” is a powerful stand out ballad that will leave you with the goosebumps and maybe a broken heart.” - Music Existence
